Save the .syx file in the Files app: iCloud Drive, On My iPad or On My iPhone, or a USB stick.

In Swoop, open PRESETS and tap IMPORT .SYX. Pick one or more files. Every tone in the bank appears in the list: tap a tone to hear it, then LOAD to use it. On iPad you can also drop a .syx file on the panel.

Swoop reads classic 80s SysEx tone banks and single tone dumps.

Yes. With RECEIVE SYSEX on in Setup, Swoop accepts tone dumps and parameter changes on its MIDI channel. Turn on SEND PARAMETERS to send your edits out as SysEx, so a hardware unit can follow.

Add a new track and choose Instrument › Audio Units › Maxcommerce › Swoop. Play it from the GarageBand keyboard or your MIDI keyboard. This works on iPhone and iPad.

In a small plugin view, Swoop switches to a compact panel. Make the plugin view bigger to see the full panel.

Add a channel, tap its input slot and pick Swoop under Audio Unit Instruments. Then connect your MIDI keyboard to Swoop in AUM's MIDI routing. Other AUv3 hosts work the same way.

USB

Plug in any class-compliant MIDI keyboard, directly over USB-C or with a Lightning to USB camera adapter. Swoop picks it up straight away.

Bluetooth

Open Setup, tap PAIR next to BLUETOOTH MIDI and choose your keyboard.

Network

On a Mac, open Audio MIDI Setup, show the MIDI Studio, open Network and connect to your iPhone or iPad.

Set MIDI CHANNEL in Setup to match your keyboard. In a host app, the host decides which MIDI goes to Swoop.

Mac Link lets the Swoop tools on a Mac play Swoop over Wi-Fi. It is off by default. Turn on MAC LINK in Setup and iOS asks once for local network access. Nothing is sent over the internet.

To play from a keyboard or music app on your Mac, use USB or network MIDI instead.

Tap SIZE next to the keyboard to step through the three sizes, and HIDE to put it away. You can also pick S, M, L or OFF under KEYS in Setup.

Turn on AUTO-HIDE WITH MIDI KEYBOARD and the on-screen keyboard steps aside whenever a hardware keyboard is connected.

Yes. Open Setup and pick a SKIN: 80s, Classic or Era. Only the look changes; the sound stays exactly the same.

No. One purchase covers iPhone and iPad on the same Apple Account, and the AUv3 plugin is included.

Swoop has no in-app purchases, so there is nothing to restore inside the app. On a new device, open the App Store, tap your account picture, then Purchased, and download Swoop again at no cost.

Your own presets and settings come back with your device backup.
